Covid-19 Preparedness
Making Your Visit Safe
Big City Optical continues to be committed to creating a safe, sound, and secure environment for all clients and team members. Our company has stayed continuously open during the COVID-19 pandemic and has spent months developing and executing procedures to make sure your visit exceeds expectations for your annual eye exam or any other emergent eye need you might have. We have sourced PPE for all members of the team and when clients come to the store without PPE we have some extra to offer them. Concern over just one virus is unique to all of us, but keeping the store clean and germ free is not something new. As healthcare providers we take your overall health seriously so when you visit one of our stores you should see the following things happening.
Screening Clients BEFORE Arriving
All clients are screened before arriving for their services at Big City Optical. We want to create an inviting and safe environment and all clients should expect a call from their optician the day before their visit to answer a few health related questions and to ask you to come to your appointment with the right PPE. Any client that has scheduled or is thinking of scheduling for an eye exam is required to delay that appointment for 14 days if you or someone in your household has had COVID-19 or exhibited symptoms. |
Sterilizing Before, During, and After Your Visit
Our staff spends time during your visit paying attention to where you go in the store so that the proper sterilization takes place during and after your visit. Eyewear is never placed back on the shelves, but rather you are given a tray to put aside any eyewear that comes down from a shelf and it gets sterilized after you leave. Our doctors maintain our exam area. All clients are asked to wash their hands before their exam and equipment is sterilized in front of you before you sit down at the equipment and after you have finished. Of course all team members wear PPE to minimize the chances of an airborne spread of the virus. |
Maintaining Social Distance
Store capacity is limited to 10 people at any one time. This limit of 10 is inclusive of staff members. If our store is at capacity we manage a controlled entry process so that social distance can be maintained easily. Appointments are booked at 30 minute intervals and our process of check in and check out is efficient so it never puts us at capacity. |
Personal Protective Equipment for ALL
For the past several months we have identified sources for personal protective equipment (PPE) and all staff members wear this at all times during your visit. While we ask all clients to come to your appointment wearing PPE we know that during these nice spring and summer days it could be forgotten as you are traveling to your appointment so we are ready to provide you some if needed. It's our job to keep you safe while in our store and having the right equipment to get the job done is something we take seriously. |
